Debate: Value of the United Nations
From Debatepedia
[Edit] Does the United Nations have good value in the world or is it irrelevant and worthless? |
[Edit] Background and contextAfter the League of Nations failed to prevent World War II, it was decided to create a new international body called the United Nations. The United Nations focuses on Peacekeeping/Security - In the 1960s, the United Nations helped successfully restore a broken Republic of Congo to a stable state by suppressing a rebellion and defeating foreign invading troops. In Namibia, Cambodia, El Salvador, and Mozambique, the UN helped dismantle the corrupt governments there and helped install a new democratic system. The operations were all successful, thanks in part to the willingness of the people in those countries to help. |
