Debate: Participation is more important than victory
From Debatepedia
[Edit] This House believes that in debating it is more important to participate than to win |
[Edit] Background and contextMost of the debaters have already experienced the brilliant feeling at the end of the debate when the judge declares the results and for this time it is our team that wins. However, we should be asking ourselves, whether winning is really that important? Do we debate to win, or just to participate and have fun? Do we learn more when we win (or when we lose)? Isn“t it in some cases better to lose?
